We are located on the middle river section of the Kenai River which is the portion from the mouth of Skilak Lake to about 5 miles below the confluence of the Moose River and the Kenai River and is known to hold trophy size Rainbow Trout and salmon. This section of the Kenai River is not drift only, but fishing this area from a drift boat offers anglers perhaps the best opportunity to hook into the Rainbow Trout or salmon of a lifetime. Trophy rainbows of 30 inches or more are not uncommon in this area during the peak season. The Middle Kenai River also offers anglers the opportunity to fish for early second run Sockeye Salmon during the early part of July before they reach the Upper Kenai River. The best king salmon fishing in this portion of the Kenai River is (in this writers opinion) the last 3 weeks of July, although some seasoned local anglers will swear that the really big kings arrive in mid-June as part of the early king run.
